Coronavirus isn’t the only worry when it comes to getting sick at the moment. Just because COVID-19 is in the spotlight, it doesn’t mean that all the other germs and pathogens are taking a break. Now more than ever we need to do whatever we can to keep our immune systems strong and healthy to ensure we stay that way too! There are many foods that we can add in our diet to give our systems a boost.

Diet to Improve Immunity

Slender Wonder is a weight loss programme that incorporates a multitude of healthy food into your diet to ensure you can live your best life. People who are overweight have a higher risk of many diseases (including complications associated with the coronavirus). This means that we need to pay attention to our weight if we want to maintain a healthy life and immune system. In the meantime, the following foods can assist:

Citrus for Health

Citrus fruit (lemons, oranges and grapefruit) are high in vitamin C which gives the immune system a great boost! You can include citrus into your daily consumption by waking up with a mug of boiling water and a few drops of lemon freshly squeezed into it. Not only will this up your health, it’ll also give your skin a detox and start your day off with a little more energy!

Eggs and Your Immune System

By now, we’re all aware that eggs are a superfood that we shouldn’t miss out on (unless you’re vegan, of course). Not only are eggs a brilliant source of protein and iron, they also contain vitamin A which is one of the vitamins the immune system thrives on. Vitamin A has important antioxidant properties and helps keep bacteria and virus-fighting cells working at their best. There are so many different ways to make eggs that will suit just about anyone’s taste!

Oats and Other Whole Grains

Oats and other whole grain cereals like wheat, rye, barley and brown rice provide important B vitamins such as vitamin B6, pantothenic acid and folic acid. These vitamins support the immune system. They are also vegan friendly! Aim to start your day with oats (on the days you aren’t making eggs). You can also eat nutty snack bars as an occasional snack to benefit from the nutrients!
