There are many ways to stay healthy while you’re working from home, and maintaining an active lifestyle is definitely one of them. Talk about being productive! Maintaining the house is something we’ve all had to become accustomed to, so why not lose some weight while you’re at it? There are a few activities that work as well as basic exercises to do at home would – without you having to go out of your way to do them.


Getting rid of the dirt has never been healthier; in more ways than one. Pushing and pulling the vacuum cleaner works your arms, while walking through the house bending and stretching works the rest of your body. If you want to push even harder (and have a pristine space), move some furniture around and lift items to get into every spot. This is guaranteed to work up a sweat, even if you don’t have a large space to clean.

Raking / Sweeping Your Garden

The motion of raking and sweeping for extended periods will work the arms and the abs. The twisting movements are great to get your hips moving, too. Plus, spending a little time in the fresh air will do wonders for your mood – triple bonus! Squatting and bending to pick up the debris you’ve just raked or swept will also get those leg muscles working.

Washing Your Car

From carrying buckets or setting up the hosepipe, to soaping up your car, this is a great exercise to do with a sparkly result. You may not be able to go anywhere right now, but your car’s paint job will thank you for the extra care.

Stretch by standing on your toes to get to the roof, and squat while you scrub the rims; you will be feeling the burn in no time. If you want even more of a challenge, vacuum the inside too and dust out those carpets. Your entire body will feel the benefits.
