Tea for Weight Loss

Tea has been around for at least 5000 years, and has been used as a medicine, a tranquiliser, a stomach settler and much more! There are thousands of different teas available, and each one boasts special characteristics; from flavour, to health benefits, and other bodily reactions.

There are also many teas that aid in weight loss. These teas have active ingredients that can encourage cells to shed unnecessary pounds, just from sipping your favourite brew! However, these teas shouldn’t be relied on in order to see results. You can incorporate them into an effective weight loss programme as well as an exercise regime to give your body a boost.

Best Tea for Weight Loss

Like with anything, tea shouldn’t be consumed in excess, as it could have the opposite effect that you want it to have. It’s also important to look for organic tea rather than flavoured ones, because the ones with additional flavouring and preservatives may be less healthy.

It’s better to have the organic teas with plain boiled water and without additional ingredients such as sugar and milk, in order to be most effective.

Green Tea

Green tea contains catechin which is a natural antioxidant, which also aids in weight loss. It increases energy expenditure and decreases fat absorption, so it’s a great drink for before or after your healthy meal. It plays a role in your microbial gut health which not only assists with weight management, but has a whole host of other benefits as well. As another plus, green tea is also great for your skin!

Oolong Tea

Oolong tea is a caffeinated tea (which also helps with weight loss), and is filled with antioxidants. Oolong tea speeds up the metabolism, and helps burn fat more quickly than other teas can.
