For whatever reason, whether you are battling to find the time or you’re injured, not being able to exercise doesn’t have to mean that it’s time to bid farewell to your waistline. Although exercise is highly recommended, there are other ways to keep the weight off without it – albeit for short periods.
Eat Clean
It’s no secret that what you put in, is what you get out! Consistent healthy eating habits will result in a healthy body. Incorporate lots of fresh vegetables and lean meats, and be sure to keep your portion sizes to what you need in order to feel full. Overdoing your portions won’t help to keep the weight off, even if your food is healthy.
Hydrate Often, with Healthy Options
Sometimes your brain may confuse thirst for hunger, making you eat unnecessarily. When you feel like you are getting peckish, rather have a drink of water and see how you feel after that. Cut out sugary drinks that have additional flavourants and colourants – if you want to make your water a little more exciting, add some natural ingredients like mint, strawberries, pineapples, etc. You can even fill up on organic, sugar-free herbal teas (enjoy them hot or cold!).
Chew Thoroughly and Slow Down
It’s been scientifically proven that your brain requires time to process that you’ve had enough to eat. Chewing slowly and thoroughly is associated with feeling fuller quicker, and subsequently reduced portion sizes.
Use Smaller Plates
Having a smaller portion of food on your average-sized plate may make you feel cheated and leave you wanting. If you have your food on a smaller plate, it will seem proportionate and fair, and leave less of a likelihood for tempting seconds.
